Perhaps the best Yuletide decoration
is being wreathed in smiles.

The Thursday before Christmas, we went on our annual Temple Square lights outing. The kids and I met Todd after work at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. It was fun to hear holiday music ringing down from the mezzanine level being sung by a choir as we walked into the grand foyer.
It was still a bit before dusk, so we walked down the street near the Lion House and Brigham Young's home. We headed across the street to the new City Creek Center which is slowly being completed. The food courtyard was open, so enjoyed a bite to eat. The courtyard had a place to eat called A Taste of Red Iguana. Anyone who knows about, and likes. the yummy Red Iguana Restaurant, should be very excited about this little express gem downtown in the courtyard.
The windows to the West showed a little waterfall that leads down through City Creek. I’m excited to see it all come together in the next few months.
We scurried back over to the JSM building as dusk was setting in. We took the kids to see the movie Joseph in the Legacy Theatre. We have never seen it, though it’s been out for quite a few years. It was nice to have Tyson and Alyssa at good ages to watch it with us. When it was over, before we headed out to see the lights, we headed to the top floor of the building where we could see the beautiful lights of the square from the high window top. It never gets old.
We enjoyed the lights and brisk air while we looked at fun nativity sets that the church had decorated some of the grounds with. The nativities were depictions from different areas around the world.
When were were done, we strolled over to the Deseret Book Store to take in the magical splendor of their window display which happened to be one awesome display. It was a large gingerbread cookie making machine, with Gadgets and gizmos and all sorts of wheels and cranks. Adults and kids a like loved watching this thing go. After we stood out side for a bit, we headed in and were each given our own yummy gingerbread boy.
Though children banter, our noses get cold, and the crowds are a drag- nights like these are still, always measured with love in the hearts of the family. Treasured memories that etch deeply through out time.
