The Holiday Season went by way too fast this year. I found myself trying to savor every moment, but it seemed to slip right though my fingers.
I was excited to spend the holidays nestled in our home…but plans always seem to have a way of changing. This year they changed quickly, so we picked right up and went with the flow!
In a nutshell, Todd and I packed up Christmas and headed out early for the country this year. We packed, presents, treats, children, and plans and headed out. But not with out a hitch! Literally. On our way out the door, we spent 45 minutes jumping a car, which ultimately never started. Repacked the second car to the point of not knowing our children were in there anywhere, drove to get a trailer…hitched it up- then went to start the second car and…no go! Had to jump that one as well. So when we finally made it to the drive thru for food—we were not happy to drive off finding out we only had half our order in the bag! BUT…we made it through! And we were off and a way.
We were very happy to make it to our destination before evening fell. We had a fun and enjoyable Christmas Eve at Grandma Suzie’s house this year. Cameron and Sara’s family joined us for dinner. We had yummy Crusted Chicken, Cheesy Potatoes, Lion House Orange Rolls, Grandma Jane’s Jell-O Salad and Green Bean Casserole.
We read a new Christmas Season book titled
A Piece of Silver by Clark Rich Burbidge.
I really like this book. Though, It’s a different take on the birth and death of our savior from the angle of a homeless child living in Christ's time. We also read the Biblical Christmas account in Luke. The kids all unwrapped a pair of Jammies to wear for the night. Tyson traded his out for a pair of Santa pants that he pretty much wore the entire month of December. We sang Christmas Carols and the children danced around for a while. The night soon grew late and off to bed we went!
