FAIRYTALE TRAIL

Last week for FHE we took a little walk through a Fairytale Trail.  It’s the same trail that we found in the fall and is known as the Witches Trail.  This was our first visit this spring to the trail.  It was fun to see the transformation of the foliage between Fall and Spring.  It’s fun to have this trail close by.

LEISURE LANE

Backing up here for a while. I have a few posts  where I will be documenting family outings, funny things, or just a bit of whimsy that I want to keep chronicled for our family.  They may not be significant events, but these are the little everyday things that continue to bring me joy, and remind me that life IS about the little things.

Todd and I took the kids to a nearby Wetland area where we strolled around a pond for a while and enjoyed some sunshine on Easter Weekend.

PRETTY MISS PRESCHOOL

Little Lyssie Lou also had her preschool graduation today.  It’s been a busy week for her.  She sang and sang her songs all day getting ready for her performance.  Guess what.  She pretty much sat like a bump on a log for the real deal.  She was a tired little girl.   She has L-O-V-E-D preschool this year.  Her teacher was just wonderful.  I am thankful we found her.  We got a cute surprise from Alyssa- a little plate she had colored and made.  It is of our family and of course champeroni.  I will cherish it.  It’s the 4 year old thing!  Some of the worst tantrums coupled with questioning brilliance in their eyes, and when they want to share it…more love than a mom’s heart can hold.

PART OF A CAST

Alyssa was part of a large cast of darling dancers performing in their spring dance recital last night.  Poor girl did the best she could lugging her own little casted arm along on her routines.  Luckily her bright green glove fit nice and snug over her cast.  It worked out just right.  She even tried her best to do the heel stretch.  Luckily at this age the dancers are just learning how to smile on stage and try to maneuver a little grove here and a little grove there.  Along with Mom, Dad and Tyson, she was happy to have Grammy and Grandpa there, and a surprise visit up north from Grandma Jami and Kaden.  We appreciate their support.  Especially since we had no clue the program would run 2 hours.  It was a doozy!

ALASKA DAY 5-8

Skagway, Alaska

Our last port was in Skagway.  The gateway to the Klondike.  We planned on taking a train ride up the mountain, but last minute decided to again walk the town and enjoy the scenery there.  We walked to the Gold Rush Cemetery and meandered back through the town and small museums.

We had a great time.  Again we enjoyed the beautiful scenery on the way home through the inside passage on our last 2 final days.  We enjoyed watching sunsets from the dining room and sleeping in.  We drove back from Vancouver to Seattle where we caught our plane home.

What an awesome place to decompress from life for a week.  The relaxing effects of this vacation will no doubt last for a while.

ALASKA DAY 4

Juneau, Alaska and Tracy Arm Fjord.

On Day 4 we docked in Juneau.  We headed out to Mendenhall Glacier.  It was very beautiful.  We walked the town and enjoyed the city’s waterfalls that were right in sight while downtown.  Later that day the ship set sail heading for Tracy Arm Fjord, where we would find Sawyer Glacier.  This Fjord was breathtaking.  We were told we had one of the clearest and  nicest days of weather ever, which is very rare.  In fact,  our cruise line actually dropped a boat with their photographers to take photos of the Fjord and Glacier with the ship for their brochures.  It was just beautiful to float between the mountains where glacier ice flowed around us.  The turquoise blue color of the glacier ice was very cool in contrast to the deep Jade colored water.  Again, we just sat in our room and on the balcony with music playing from our laptop.  Here are  (a lot) of awesome photos of the day.

One of the best surprises of the cruise was to come out of the Fjord to this sunset.

These photos don’t do it justice.

ALASKA DAY 3

Ketchikan, Alaska

These were some fun photo’s to take.  It was really pretty there.  If you look close I used photoshop to take out a garbage can on the pic below.  We strolled around for a few hours and had fun watching a lumberjack show.
