Our Holiday weekend was a Blast! We’re usually out of town celebrating. Although this year we missed our small town tradition, we really had a fun, memorable time with our neighborhood.
Here are some of our family’s favorite highlights from this year…
Thursday-
Todd came home from work with a real treat for the weekend. We’ve been looking forward to our Nephew/Cousin Sky coming to stay with us over the 4th of July this year while his mom is on vacation.
Friday-
Todd had the day off. We went and had a picnic in the park. Then we took the kids to the new ICE AGE movie. We polished off the day with swimming. Oh, & an impromptu run for fireworks & a refreshing Hawaiian Shave Ice! We had a quick teaser of a fireworks show, then off to bed. Well, off to bed, after the boys played with Lego’s for another hour, then came downstairs to watch mother nature’s fireworks show on the deck with Todd & I.
Saturday-
Alyssa rode in her first parade. She was “so so excited.” The weather was awesome. The noon sky was cloud covered, yet without rain. It managed to keep us at least 15 degrees cooler than normal. Later that evening, the kids decorated their bikes for a kids bike parade. I quickly made some awesome felt license plates for them. They turned out cute. We gathered with our neighborhood for a BBQ & fireworks. The night came to an end with the large local fireworks shows lighting the night sky.
Sunday-
We all slept in, then milled around until church. Afterwards the boys talked Todd into ‘helping’ them put together Tyson’s helicopter erector set. Which of course in translation meant Todd sat at the table for 2 hours with the kids coming back to help every half hour or so to hand him a bolt or screw and talk. We ate dinner then took the kids to the pond for a walk and to feed the ducks. For now it’s 9:30pm and then kids are settled & sweetly sleeping. Ah-sweet silence. Todd’s is lounging/sprawling on the couch and I am going to sweetly/exhaustedly join him. We are SPENT!
