CARRY ON

Carrying on through the trenches of parenthood!!!  That’s what our motto was today.  These two siblings have been running the course of competition at EVERYTHING lately.  Who gets to sit where, who gets what first…etc.  It’s driving Todd and I NUTS!

So- Carry on was the motto for the day, in more ways than one.  With it being Pioneer Day- my heart was turned to the many ancestors who bravely crossed the plains and found faith and courage in the utmost challenging circumstances.  I am extremely grateful today for my Pioneer grandparents who did not give up when times were tough and knew the ultimate sacrifice of diligence and what it truly meant to Carry on.

We talked a little today about what it meant to be a Pioneer and what challenges they must have faced.  Before bedtime, we let the kids try to make their own pioneer wagons out of marshmallows.  We didn’t have a lot of cute supplies on hand, like life savors for wagon wheels or graham crackers for the wagon boards-  but luckily our neighbors had brought some cookies and cupcakes by earlier…so these kiddos seemed to make do just fine.  They had fun and even found four legged friends to share the load.  When Alyssa’s wagon “broke down”  she got distraught…what a great chance to explain to her about the real wagons that broke down and how they had to be rebuilt and the Pioneers again, had to Carry on!
